Education is the fundamental right of any child. It is quite common in today’s world to browse through the website, understanding the biography of the founder, skill of the faculty etc before joining a child in the school. On the other side education has become a competitive business.
In this digital era of education, schools do a lot of activities online. Offering online courses, making the exam results available online, accepting applications for students, Web option for choosing colleges/ universities to join higher education courses etc. Are the schools and universities making their online presence available for every student? Are the E-learning courses or platforms accessible for persons with disabilities?
For answering few of these questions myself, I have taken the home pages of top 10 universities and checked the accessibility problems. I have not used complicated or expensive software applications to identify the accessibility problems. I just ran the powerful, reliable, free and open source accessibility tool aXe. Below are the results of my finding.
The test was run on 30th June, 2016. The findings might have changed at a later date.
